Terms of Use

ChatGPT Query Fan-Out ("the extension") is a free browser tool provided by Nati Elimelech. By installing or using it, you agree to these terms.

Provided as-is

The extension is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. It reads data that ChatGPT itself generates; the accuracy and availability of that data depend on ChatGPT, which can change at any time. To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any damages arising from its use.

Acceptable use

Use the extension with your own ChatGPT account and session, in line with OpenAI's terms. Don't use it to disrupt, overload, or circumvent the security of any service.

No affiliation

The extension is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI. "ChatGPT" is a trademark of OpenAI, used here only to describe compatibility.

Privacy

The extension does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. Everything it captures stays in your browser, on your device.

What it accesses

While you use ChatGPT on chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com, the extension reads the query fan-out data those pages generate — the search queries, the retrieved sources, and the citations — using your own logged-in session. It runs only on those two sites.

Where that data goes

Captured queries, sources, citations, and your settings are stored locally in the browser's extension storage. This data is never sent to the developer or any third party, and is never sold. It stays until you delete it (per-conversation "Delete tracked data", "Clear all captured data", or by removing the extension) or until it is pruned by the history limit you set. You can export your own data as JSON or CSV at any time; that file is saved by your browser to your device.

Network requests

  • To ChatGPT — same-origin requests using your existing session, to reconcile the fan-out, source, and citation data for a conversation. No credentials are created, stored, or sent anywhere else.
  • To Google's public favicon service — to show an icon for each source's domain. Only the domain name is included, sent with no-referrer and without extension cookies. A letter-tile fallback is shown if the icon fails to load.

What it never touches

No browsing history, saved passwords, autofill data, or any site other than ChatGPT. No analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs. No remotely-loaded code — all logic ships inside the package.
